Srinagar, Apr 17: “Gone are the days when the National Conference (NC) was slapping the Public Safety Act (PSA), putting people in jails on false charges, and carrying out fake encounters with Kashmiri people,” said People’s Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Wednesday.
He lashed out at the former chief minister and NC vice president Omar Abdullah, saying he has to answer for POTA, PSA and sending people to jails on “false charges”.
Addressing the media persons in north Kashmir’s Handwara, Lone, said that Omar Abdullah has aligned with both the good and bad of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not paying any heed to him, so he is labelling him as a bad BJP, whereas Vajpayee Ji was accommodating him,” he said.
He added, “The NC government has only brought death to the people of Kashmir, and this all started after their electoral theft in the Kashmir valley in 1987. There should be an open investigation into the 1987 rigging, which gave birth to militancy and resulted in around one lakh people dying in the conflict, and no one is talking about it.”
Sajad said that in the rest of the country, police verification of an individual is conducted, but in Kashmir if any family member has an adverse report, the whole family is denied police verification. “Also, those people who were involved in militancy and are now very old people are being called to police stations, and nobody is talking about them,” he said. “I will speak at the parliament when it comes to power to question why Kashmir is being denied the same law that exists in the rest of the country.”
All of this is happening because of the past governments, Lone said, adding, “They are killers of the people, and one day they will have to answer for these fake encounters.”
The PC chief also said the NC is humiliating the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “I won’t let them humiliate the people of the valley,” he added.
