Jammu, Aug 16: Former minister and president central zone JKNC, Babu Rampaul on Wednesday took stock of the preparedness for the upcoming Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Panchayats by the party cadres during a meeting at Bari Brahmana which was organized by the Secretary Central Zone and Coordinator district Samba, Bharat Bhushan.
While interacting with the prominent party workers Babu Rampaul said that the elections to ULBs and Panchayats can be announced anytime and asked the party cadres to gear up. He directed the party cadres to participate aggressively in the ongoing process of addition and deletion into the electoral rolls and ensure that every eligible candidate gets enrolled.
The NC leader asked the party cadres to reach out to every household to take stock of their genuine problems and further highlight them for redressal with the appropriate platform. He said that inflation has made the life of the people very miserable. He also raised the issue of Property Tax imposed by the present administration and said that the same will be rolled back if National Conference is voted to power in Municipal Committees and Municipal Corporations.
Ramapul urged the youth, retirees and women to play an active role in the upcoming polls and vote for peace, progress, and identity with dignity and to ensure democracy survives at any cost.
Criticizing the LG administration, Dr Vikas Sharma, zonal secretary JKNC alleged, “The government has adopted a new modus operandi to mentally torture the people of Jammu by imposing property tax, installation of power smart meters, now pre-paid meters. In fact, a mechanism is being put in place to embarrass the public by resorting to unwarranted means.”
Zonal Secretary JKNC, Bharat Bhushan alleged, “The political party in power has totally spoiled the earning pattern of locals of Jammu as all the government works including contracts of sand, bajri, wine shops, and parking spots have been allotted to the people from outside JK UT jeopardizing the living standard of general public Jammu and Kashmir and drastically dwindling their livelihood.”
“All the important positions in the UT government sector and universities have deliberately been given and occupied by officers from outside JKUT under a well-knit conspiracy to make the lives of people here quite miserable with none to listen to their genuine grievances,” he added.
