Srinagar, Oct 10: Chief Post Master General of Jammu and Kashmir, Niraj Kumar on Monday announced that India Post is soon going to launch a Parcel Packaging Service at Srinagar, Jammu, and Ladakh Hos.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Kumar, while highlighting the postal week celebrations said that 10.10.2022 is celebrated as Vittiya Sashaktikaran Diwas, 11.10.2022 as Philately Day, 12.10.2022 as Mail & Parcel Day and 13.10.2022 as Antoyada Diwas.
He also informed that 1432 Post Offices are providing services in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh UTs, saying that the National Sorting Hubs are also functional at Srinagar, Jammu while Parcel Sorting Hubs are at Srinagar, Jammu, and Ladakh.
“Recently Special Parcel Booking Centre has been opened in Srinagar GPO. More than 16 Lakh IPPB accounts have been opened in J&K and Ladakh UTs after the service was launched in 2017. There are about 12 Lakh Savings Bank account presently active in J&K besides about 20 thousand accounts for girl child under scheme Sukanya Samridhi Yojna”, he said.
He also informed that 1432 Post Offices are providing services in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh UTs, saying that the National Sorting Hubs are also functional at Srinagar, Jammu while Parcel Sorting Hubs are at Srinagar, Jammu, and Ladakh.
Kumar said that they will launch various services and initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir to celebrate Post Week.
“We are also launching Mobile Parcel Booking Service, which is a new thing, where postmasters will go to shops, workshops, and other places in order to book parcels on the spot. This is one of our endeavors to bring post services to the doorsteps of the people even in remote areas,” he said.
He added that India Post has inducted the latest technology in Post Offices. Now almost all the services like booking of articles in speed post, parcels, Money Orders, PO Savings Bank, etc are being provided through computer operations and track and trace services have been made available for mail services. All Head Post Offices and Sub Post Offices have been fully computerized.
Addressing the media, Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle Niraj Kumar also extended best wishes to the public of J&K and the staff of Post Offices in J&K. He has also expressed the commitment of the employees of India Post in J&K to provide the best possible services in Mail, Parcel, Savings Bank, Money transfer and related services.
