Choose hell or surrender, Rai to terrorists
Ancient Uma Bhagwati temple reopens after over three decades
Anantnag, July 14: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, NityanandRai on Sunday stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the country is living with a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.
“This is PM Modi’s India. Either you (terrorists) will go to hell, or you will be buried 7 feet below the ground. Choose yourself what you accept. You either go to India’s jail or dedicate your life to a good cause. India is now living with a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism,” Rai said.
The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, NityanandRai stated this while throwing open the ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Uma Bhagwati at Brariangan in Shangus Tehsil. He was accompanied by the Deputy Commissioner AnantnagSyeedFakhrudin Hamid, Senior Superintendent of Police Anantnag Dr G V SundeepChakravarthy, officers from the District administration and office bearers of the Uma BhagwatiAsthapan Trust. Today’s event was attended by a large number of devotees who lined up for the darshan of the deity.
NityanandRai said that after the temple was demolished in 1990, its rebuilding and the completion of the consecration ceremony have increased the confidence of Kashmiri Pandits.
Taking to microblogging site X (formerly Twitter) Nityanand said, “In 1990, the Uma Bhagwati Temple was demolished. Now, the temple has been rebuilt and today the consecration ceremony was completed. This has increased the confidence of Kashmiri Pandits and serves as a message of mutual cooperation. The three-day long yajna concluded today. I had the opportunity to participate in this auspicious event.”
He said “terrorism is breathing its last breath and, from the pulpit of the Mata Uma Bhagwati Temple, I would like to tell the terrorists to lay down weapons and let go of enmity”. He said, “this is not the same India; it is Modi’s India.”
“The people with such acts will go to hell or will be buried under seven feet deep. They should decide it now. Would you accept imprisonment in India, or hell, or would you surrender to live a good life? I am calling upon you today – India is now living with zero tolerance towards terrorism,” he said.
The temple was reopened post restoration, after nearly thirty four years.
During the re-opening, the idol of goddess Uma, which was brought from Rajasthan, was placed in the sanctum sanctorum.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner assured the gathering that full support from the administration shall be provided to facilitate the devotees visiting the shrine.
Notably, Uma Bhagwati temple at Brariangan is an ancient shrine where devotees used to come in large numbers from different parts of the J&K to pay obeisance to the Goddess whose temple was situated amidst five springs. These springs are: Brahma Kund, Vishnu Kund, RudhraKund and Shiv Shakti Kund.
