Handwara, Nov 09: Reacting to the recent killings in Kashmir, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Langate, Sheikh Khurshid on Saturday said violence in the region not stop until the Government of India takes meaningful political steps. He warned that without a comprehensive and sustainable political solution to the “Kashmir issue”, such killings will not stop.
Speaking to reporters in north Kashmir’s Handwara, Khurshid expressed concern over the recent killings of innocent people and condemned the loss of lives.
He said, “Earlier, the BJP said that abrogating Article 370 would bring peace to Kashmir, reduce violence and curb stone-pelting. While we welcome the reduction in stone-pelting, it is clear that incidents of violence have, in fact, increased.”
The AIP leader condemned all forms of violence, saying any loss of human life is tragic, regardless of the victim’s background. “We condemn any loss of human lives, as there is nothing more precious than human life. We condemn the killing of every individual, whether it be a policeman, army man, VDC member or any other person,” he said.
The MLA urged the Government of India to prioritise a sustainable political solution to the “Kashmir issue”, which he believes is vital for ensuring a safe and secure future for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
