Sopore, Oct 17: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) held a crucial meeting on Tuesday with office bearers and prominent workers in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, which was chaired by Vice Chairman G M Saroori.
During the meeting, Saroori reassured the people of Sopore, also known as the apple town, that if elected to power, the party is committed to restoring its lost glory and transforming it into a thriving hub of economic opportunities.
“Sopore is a town rich in resources, but sadly, it has lost its former eminence over the years,” Saroori said. He pledged that under the leadership of Chairman DPAP Ghulam Nabi Azad, the party would diligently work towards revitalizing Sopore, creating significant economic prospects, and generating ample job opportunities for the local youth.
According to a statement, Saroori reminded the attendees of the substantial developmental strides made by Azad during his tenure as the chief minister of the erstwhile state. He assured that even more ambitious plans are in store if DPAP is entrusted with the responsibility of the people.
The DPAP leader announced a comprehensive policy to support the people of Sopore and said the party would advocate for the elimination of excise duty on Kashmir apples. Acknowledging the immense dedication and struggle of the growers, he stressed the need for governmental attention and support in this vital sector, which contributes significantly to the economic sustenance of nearly sixty percent of the population.
