Kupwara, Sep 14: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan on Thursday chaired a meeting of officers here to review the preparations for the 2nd phase of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, featuring the Amrit Kalash Yatras.
The meeting was informed that in rural areas of Kupwara district, the four-tier approach spans from villages, blocks, and state capital to national capital and in urban areas from wards, municipal councils, state capital to national capital, with an aim to instill a sense of national pride and unity among citizens.
The DC while emphasising the significance of collecting soil and rice during Amrit Kalash Yatras said that it is a way to connect people to India’s future. She said that the idea behind this programme is that every individual, family, citizen, and child should connect emotionally with the idea of the creation of the ‘great India’.
While elaborating on the timeline and spread of activities, DC said that up to September 30, the soil (mitti) and rice will be collected from houses in every village in a festive environment, following it up from October 01 to 13 at the block and later from October 22 to 27 at state-level, and finally from October 28 to 30, these pots of soil and rice will reach New Delhi. She called upon all officers to collaborate and coordinate closely to ensure the campaign’s resounding success and ensure active involvement in various events.
A pivotal aspect highlighted during the meeting was the creation of a festive atmosphere at the block-level program, where soil from various villages will be ceremonially combined in a single Amrit Kalash. Furthermore, the DC underscored the need to pay homage to martyrs at the block level and directed the concerned officers to facilitate this process.
She directed the concerned officers to organise cultural programs at the block level, designed to honour the brave-hearts. She stressed that similar programs will also be conducted in Municipal Wards and councils of Kupwara district.
Ayushi urged officers to work diligently and in close coordination with a special focus on encouraging women’s participation and involving Anganwadi workers, ASHAs and youth volunteers and other field functionaries. She directed the officers to ensure the creation of festive environments including playing Dholaks, Nagadas and other musical instruments, taking Panch Pran pledges, videography, photography of events, timely reporting and uploading the events. The DC directed ADC Kupwara and ACD Kupwara to chalk out a schedule for village-wise events.
