Srinagar,July 17: Setting a trend to prepare Kashmiri cuisine at home and serve them to customers across the Srinagar district, Rukhsana Manzoor spoke to Rising Kashmir’s city correspondent Saba Khan about her journey.
What made you become a homemade chef?
With the outbreak of Covid19 pandemic across the globe all activities suffered badly. The business of my husband was also affected a lot which led to financial constraints in the family. These circumstances prompted me to come up with homemade business and cook all Kashmiri cuisines.
Why didn’t you choose other home based businesses?
Since childhood I was very passionate about cooking and that thought gave me a click to start this venture. My husband and daughter assisted me a lot in this initiative.
Which social media platforms do you use for taking orders and how many customers have you served so far?
I have my Instagram page namely Ghar Bhatti and on WhatsApp, I am receiving orders on demand. I deliver orders to my customers at an appropriate time. I have served a bulk of customers to date as I always prefer to maintain quality and hygiene.
What type of challenges have you faced?
Initially, everybody faces challenges but my husband and daughter supported me in this journey with the grace of the Almighty. We received a good response from the customers and today 5 to 7 people are associated with Ghar Bhatti.
Whattypeof food do you serve to your customers?
There are several dishes we made like Non- Vegetarian, special dishes in that we have Kashmiri Style Fish, Tamatar Fish, Methi Maaz, Veg Items and also Sweet dishes we made.
What are your future plans?
Yes, I have plans to expand my business in future. I am happy to deliver homemade food to people who are far away from home.
