Poonch, Aug 22: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma Friday chaired a meeting to review the delineation and demarcation process for establishing a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Centre.According to a statement issued here, during the meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding the requirements and planning for the proposed MRF, which is crucial for effective management of municipal solid waste. The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of ensuring compliance with prescribed norms and directed the concerned officers to constitute a committee for assessing the feasibility of the identified site strictly as per the criteria laid down under the Solid Waste Management Act, 2016. The Deputy Commissioner further stressed that the initiative would not only streamline waste segregation and recycling but also contribute significantly towards creating a cleaner and sustainable environment in the district.
