Jammu, Aug 25: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu, and former minister, S. Manjit Singh on Friday demanded repair work of Dhayansar – Dolian road that has been turned into the worst condition.
Addressing a meeting of Apni Party leaders which was organized by Shivani Koul at ward number – 11 in Dhayansar in Bari Brahmana, Singh said, “The traffic has been diverted on Dhayansar-Dolian Road due to which the existing road has been damaged at several places and the local population is suffering because of this situation. The traffic was diverted with the damage to the two bridges. However, the authorities should immediately initiate steps on priority to repair the damaged portions of the road.”
During the meeting, the leaders, and workers highlighted local issues, especially regarding the worst condition of road connectivity that requires immediate repair work.
Manjit said the people were concerned about the poor electricity and irregular drinking water supply in the Dhayansar-Dolian area and demanded that the concerned departments should ensure proper electricity and drinking water supply systems. He also expressed concern over the “illegal” collection of tolls at a plaza in Sarore, and the installation of smart meters due to which the electricity consumers are getting excessive electricity bills.
“Anger is brewing among the people in Jammu plains due to the anti-people policies of the government. The feeling of alienation has been growing for the last several years because the government has failed to do any kind of public-friendly work, and the assembly elections have also been delayed without reason,” he said.
The Apni Party leader said the protests triggered across Jammu plain districts because the administration and the NHAI have turned blind eyes towards the “illegal” collection of toll tax at Sarore.
“The issue is not toll tax collection, but Jammu is feeling the heat because of excessive electricity bills generated by the smart meters, unfair recruitment processes, no elected government in place, the government officials not acting in public welfare, sidelining of the locals in administration, and providing no relief to the people regarding many issues including development,” he said.
At the end of the meeting, the Apni Party leaders led by Manjit Singh organised a protest rally against the detention of peaceful protesters and demanded their unconditional release from police custody.
