Man axes elderly to death in Doda, live streams murder on Facebook

Srinagar, June 17: In a shocking incident, a man from Doda village of Jammu division on Friday killed an elderly man and injured a lady while streaming it live on Facebook, officials said.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Doda Abdul Qayoom said that it was learnt through reliable sources at Police station Gandoh that one Bharov Singh son of Pawan Kumar resident of Chouanry Gandoh attacked Ram Krishan son of Nand Lal resident of village Dhosa Gandoh with an axe and committed his murdered on spot.

“In this incident one lady, namely Anju Devi, wife of Chander Parkash resident of Chouanry Gandoh was also injured severely who was referred to Doda for treatment,” he said.

SSP said that immediately after the receipt of the information, Adil Hussain, SDPO Gandoh and Inspr Vikram Singh, SHO PS Gandoh alongwith a Police Party rushed to the spot and after hectic efforts arrested the accused person from high ridges of forest area.

“The accused person while being arrested got himself injured with the weapon of offence(axe),” he said.

Meanwhile, a FIR No 55/2023 under sec 302,307 ,342 has been registered in Police station Gandoh and investigation set into motion.

As per Police investigation, SSP Abdul Qayoom said the prima facie the incident seems to have happened over some old family dispute and grudges between two groups.

On Friday, after the confrontation accused Pawan Kumar streamed the live murder on his Facebook profile.
