Kargil, Jan 21: In a significant development for healthcare in the region, Lt. Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh Brig (Dr) BD Mishra, accompanied by Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal and Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, inaugurated a state-of-the-art 160 slice CT-Scan machine, Modular Operation Theatre (MOT), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at District Hospital, Kargil.
During the inaugural ceremony, the Lt. Governor expressed his commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of comprehensive progress, ensuring that essential medical amenities reach every citizen, even in remote areas like Kargil. He announced plans to procure a cutting-edge MRI machine for the hospital, reinforcing the government’s dedication to timely healthcare advancements.
Addressing the gathering, the Lt. Governor applauded the transformative step taken towards women empowerment with the announcement of 33 percent reservation for women in elections, underlining the commitment to inclusive governance.
Highlighting the pivotal role of women’s education in national development, he stressed its significance in fostering progress for the entire nation. Emphasizing the importance of healthcare, the Lt. Governor urged doctors to exhibit dedication and prioritize patient welfare.
Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, welcomed the distinguished guests on behalf of the district administration, providing cost details for the newly inaugurated facilities. The 160 slice CT-Scan machine costs 7.6 crore, while the Modular Operation Theatre (MOT) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) together cost 2.67 crore. The Lt. Governor had closely monitored the project to ensure its timely completion.
In a subsequent visit to GM Pore Hospital, the Lt. Governor assessed the services provided, inspecting various sections and addressing concerns raised by Councilor GM Pore, Syed Ali. He urged the public to avail themselves of government schemes for maximum benefits, reaffirming the UT administration’s commitment to a corruption-free and delay-free Ladakh.
Accompanied by key officials, including Member of Parliament, Ladakh, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, and Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, the Lt. Governor assured necessary actions in response to demands, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to the welfare of the region.
