A terrorist of Lashkar-i-Toiba terror outfit has been killed in an encounter at Baskuchan village in Imamsahib area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Sunday.
While quoting ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, Killed terrorist has been identified as Naseer Ahmad Bhat of Nowpora Baskuchan of Shopian, linked with LeT terror outfit.
“Incriminating materials, arms & ammn including AK rifle recovered. He was involved in several terror crimes and recently escaped from an encounter, ” he said.
Earlier, Police informed that an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists at Baskuchan village in Imamsahib area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Meanwhile, A spokesman said that Police alongwith security forces have neutralized a local terrorist of proscribed terror outfit LeT in Baskuchan area of Shopian.
The spokesman said that based on a specific input generated by Police regarding presence of a terrorist in village Baskuchan area of Shopian, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, Army (44RR) and CRPF (178Bn) in the said area.
During the search operation, as the joint search party approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorist fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated effectively leading to an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, 01 local terrorist linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT was killed and his body was retrieved from the site of encounter. He has been identified as Naseer Ahmad Bhat of Nowpora Baskuchan, Shopian. As per police records, the killed terrorist was a categorized terrorist and involved in several terror crime cases.
Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 01 AK rifle were recovered from the site of encounter. All the recovered materials have been taken into case records for further investigation.
In this regard, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigation is in progress. People are requested to cooperate with Police till the area at encounter site is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials, if any.
