LG reviews power supply situation in J&K UT

Jammu, Nov 23: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a review meeting today to assess the overall power supply situation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
During the meeting, the Lt. Governor emphasized the need to strictly adhere to curtailment plans, ensure uninterrupted and high-quality power supply in all smart-metered feeders, and swiftly replace damaged transformers to minimize disruptions to public service. He stressed the importance of proactive measures and close monitoring by ground personnel to effectively address the peak electricity demand.
The Lt. Governor also reviewed the progress of smart meter installation, workforce requirements, and the status of power infrastructure in the Union Territory. He directed the concerned departments to prioritize the installation of smart meters in Jammu, Srinagar, and district headquarters to improve efficiency and reduce AT&C losses. Additionally, he urged the Power Development Department to tap into the potential of renewable energy sources and effectively implement the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to enhance the power supply infrastructure.
The Lt. Governor’s emphasis on uninterrupted and reliable power supply underscores the administration’s commitment to providing essential services to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The ongoing review of power infrastructure and implementation of innovative measures will undoubtedly contribute to a more robust and sustainable power supply system in the Union Territory. and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Principal Secretary Power Development Department H. Rajesh Prasad, Principal Secretary Finance Department Santosh D. Vaidya, Principal Secretary to the Lt. Governor Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, and other senior officials.
