Jammu, Nov 23: Two terrorists, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander, Quari, were on Thursday gunned down by the security forces in the encounter at Dharmsal in Bajimaal area of Rajouri. Quari is believed to be the mastermind behind the civilian killings in Dhangri area of Rajouri and Kandi attack.
“Quari was a Pakistani national, who had been sent from across the border to revive terrorism in the regions of Rajouri and Poonch,” Army sources said, while adding, “he was active in the region for past more than a year and is believed to be the mastermind of Dhangri and Kandi terror attacks”.
The killed LeT commander was an expert in IEDs, operating from caves and also a trained sniper. He was active in Rajouri and Poonch areas since the last one year along with his group, Army sources said.
Pertinent to mention here the encounter had broken out between the security forces and the terrorists on Wednesday at Dharmsal in Bajimaal area of Rajouri. During the fierce battle five Army personnel lost their lives. A paratrooper was also martyred while fighting the terrorists.
The slain security personnel were identified as Sachin Laur, resident of Nagaliya-Giurola, District Aligarh, Utter Pradesh, Captain MV Pranjal, resident of Manglore-Karnataka, Captain Shubham Gupta, resident of Agra, Havaldar Abdul Majid, resident of Ajote-Poonch, L/Naik, Sanjay Bisht, resident of Halli Padli, Nainital, Utterakhand and Paratrooper Sachin Laur, resident of Nigaliya-Giurola of District Aligarh, Utter Pradesh.
