Srinagar, Oct 12: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the ‘Vayu Veer Vijeta’ car rally organized by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in collaboration with Uttarakhand War Memorial veterans. The rally aims to honor the IAF’s legacy of valor and encourage youth to join the armed forces.
During the event at Raj Bhawan, the Lt Governor congratulated the participants, stating, “Indian Air Force has a proud legacy of valour, courage, and sacrifice. Serving the nation and its people in difficult circumstances is in the DNA of the Indian Air Force.”
Highlighting the IAF’s vital role in warfare, rescue missions, and disaster relief, Lt Governor Sinha added, “The nation is grateful to the armed forces for ensuring a more secure and peaceful environment, facilitating India’s progress and prosperity.” He further emphasized the government’s efforts under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership to strengthen infrastructure and connectivity in border areas over the past decade.
The rally, which was earlier ceremonially flagged off by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from the National War Memorial in New Delhi, marks the 92nd anniversary of the IAF. Over 50 air warriors are part of this expedition, which spans 7,000 kilometers from Thoise in Ladakh to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh. Throughout the journey, the participants will engage with local youth across universities and colleges, promoting awareness about the IAF’s contributions and encouraging careers in the armed forces.
The official flag-off took place at Thoise, one of the highest altitude air force stations globally, located at 3,068 meters above mean sea level. Air Commodore Prabhat Malik (Vayu Sena Medal), Team Leader Wing Commander Vijay Prakash Bhatt, Rally Chairman Tarun Vijay, and other senior officers were present at the event.
