Bandipora, Jan 06: Literary Forum Bandipora on Friday paid rich tributes to its founder Professor Abdul Rashid Nazki on his 7th death anniversary.
In a statement issued, spokesperson of the organization Sheikh Saleem said a general council meeting was held under the chairmenship of patron Mubashir Saleem Nazki and Vice-President Mir Tariq to pay tributes to the founder who is also the founder of Adbi Markaz Kamraz and also recalled is contribution to the Kashmiri literature.
Nazki passed away on 6th January 2016 in Bandipora at the age of 85. The members of the Literary Forum Bandipora lauded the role of Nazki in flourishing the culture and literature besides struggling for the upliftment of Kashmiri language.
They said Professor Nazki was the founder president of Aadbi Markaz KAmraz (AMK). He held the office for 13 years from 1972 to 1984. The organization has done outstanding work of art, culture and languages during this period. It is during this period, Markaz got Sadiq Memorial Award for its good performance and service towards Kashmiri Languages.
Poet, Critic, Scholar, Academician, Stalwart, and Professor- Abdul Rashid Nazki is a legend of not just Kashmiri Adab but all of Kashmiri culture and Islamic mysticism. “He grew in the age when learning was not gleaned from books alone but distilled, drop by drop from the press of life and living,” they said.
Patron LFB, Mubashir Saleem Nazki said later AMK founder Prof Nazki has a unique poetic voice which brings metaphysical and transcendental concerns to the moods and themes of Kashmiri poetry. “By reading Zikr-i-Habib, a reader just feels as if he is visualizing the things”.
Nazki Sahib’s Poetry enriched his Love (Ishiq-i-Haqeeqi) and Love nourished his poetry. He has a credit of being first Kashmiri writer to write “Seerat” of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). “The extra ordinary work was the outcome of his vast and varied reading of Islam, mysticism and Kashmiri culture and literature,” Vice President Mir Tariq said.
Speakers said Nazki is the First Scholar of Kashmiri literature who goes deep into in the realms of Mysticism and Rishyat- the face of Kashmiri Culture and Civilization. The first PhD degree holder in Kashmiri, Nazki did his doctorate on the topic “Mystic Trends in Kashmiri and Urdu Poetry”.
His most valued contribution remains in the field of Iqbalyaat. What Professor Aal Ahmad Suruur did in India, Nazki did in Kashmir. He brought back the focus on Iqbal by translating Allama Iqbal’s Asrar-i-Khudi, Javid Nama, Zabur-i- Ajam, Bali-Jabriel, Payam-i-Mashriq besides Qaseeda Burda of Sheikh Sadi and Kuliyat-i-Nadim of Abdul Ahmad Nadim. One of Nazki’s most famous and widely acclaimed poetic collection is “Vahraat”, for which He got Sahitya Academy Award in 1999. His poems offer a unique insight into a mind, shaped by the mystics and Rishi philosophy. Rashid Nazki dedicated Vahraat to “those who now have no name”.
The Kashmiri Icon Nazki has the credit of the first book-Mazhabi Rehnuma- in Kashmiri on the life and message of religious leaders of the world.
During the meeting the speakers decided to celebrate Youm-e-Nazki in second fortnight of February and much awaited two books of Prof Nazki will be released posthumously during the celebration of the day. The meeting also reviewed the arrangements for the celebration of the day besides discussing activities to be carried out during the day-long celebration.
