Ashok Bhan, the Kashmir Policy and Strategy Group (KPSG) chairman, urged the Prime Minister to address the Kashmiri Pandit exile, emphasizing the 34-year-long struggle for their return.
Bhan said, ” KPs are longing to return home.34 years of exile is harsh, traumatic and painful fraught with extinction of this unique & viable community. This community is aborigines with 5000 years of roots engraved in soil of Valley. It is the moral,Constitutional and political duty -Dayatva of Modi & his government to plan a structured Garwapsi of the KPs without whom the idea of Naya Kashmir is incomplete”.
He said , In the historical and social context of the Kashmir Valley, the scars of past conflicts weigh heavily upon its people. The fallout from the 1947 turmoil and the prolonged insurgency has resulted in the displacement of indigenous religious minorities and the senseless loss of innocent lives at the hands of non-state actors and militant groups.
“The people are victims of the 1947 conflict and the lingering aftermath of the armed insurgency that led to (a) the displacement of the entire indigenous religious minority and (b) the killing of innocent civilians by non-state actors, brutalised anti-people groups and other actors”, Bhan said.
“Recognizing the urgency of addressing this plight, the Kashmir Policy and Strategy Group has tirelessly advocated for dialogue and societal healing, emphasizing the imperative of fostering peace, justice, and inclusivity in the region”, he added.
