SRINAGAR, DEC 06: Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) today made a final call to its domestic consumers, urging them to take advantage of the interest waiver under the Government’s Power Amnesty Scheme, which will expire on March 31, 2025.
In a statement, Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, Er. Aaquib Waheed Deva, clarified that the scheme would only be available to domestic consumers until March 31, 2025, with no further extensions. “Consumers can either pay their principal amount in full or in equal instalments over the next four months to claim the waiver on late payment surcharge and settle their claims,” she said.
So far, 1,09,648 domestic consumers have availed of the scheme, resulting in a total revenue collection of Rs. 164 crore for KPDCL. The scheme targets a total of 1,50,907 consumers who had substantial outstanding balances with KPDCL.
The Government has waived Rs. 58 crore in late payment surcharges, offering significant relief to consumers by clearing their opening balances.
The Chief Engineer urged remaining consumers with outstanding dues to approach their concerned Electric Subdivisions to settle their bills. “A large number of domestic consumers with significant opening balances have yet to avail themselves of this opportunity,” she said, stressing that this is the final chance under the scheme.
She further warned that after the closure of the Amnesty Scheme, KPDCL will have no option but to pursue legal action and disconnect services for those consumers who fail to settle their dues.
