Jammu, July 22: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) provincial president Jammu Jugal Kishore Sharma has appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to set up a committee to check the damage caused by the ongoing monsoons in the union territory.
“The ongoing monsoon has brought a lot of damage to life and property of the common people, just like Dera Baba Panchayat in Reasi district witnessed cloudburst; still no one from the administration is looking into this,” he said in a statement, adding, “Many similar disasters have happened throughout J&K which the administration is neglecting.”
“A lot of landslides are happening in places which are already not well connected. Floods have occurred and severe landslides have occurred in Doda district and many other parts of the UT also but the administration is not doing anything for the people,” Sharma said.
I appeal to the LG to look into this with his utmost concern and announce relief for the common people who have suffered loss due to the ongoing severe monsoons, he said, adding that the committee that is to be formed should look for damages in every district and provide immediate relief to the common people.
