Srinagar, Nov 06: The Jammu and Kashmir Veterinary Doctors Association (JKVDA) Kashmir chapter held its much-anticipated elections for the executive body, which witnessed an overwhelming voter turnout of 96%. The cloud-based online voting system allowed registered veterinary doctors from various departments, including Animal and Sheep Husbandry, SMC, SKIMS, SMHS, SKUAST, Wildlife, and other institutions, to participate in the democratic process.

The elections, which were conducted with utmost transparency and professionalism, took on special significance in the backdrop of the newly-formed government in Jammu and Kashmir. In a fierce contest for the executive positions, Dr. Reyaz Reshi was re-elected as Vice President of the JKVDA Kashmir chapter, securing a commanding victory over his opponents.

In other key results, Dr. Zahoor Khanday was elected as Secretary, while Dr. Syed Arshad made a successful debut as Publicity Secretary. Dr Shabir Ahmad Dar was elected as Treasurer unopposed, further reinforcing the unity and trust within the association.

The newly elected office-bearers expressed their gratitude to the veterinary fraternity for their unwavering support and commitment during the election process. In their first message to the community, they vowed to continue raising the genuine concerns of the profession and work towards addressing issues before the administration for their early resolution. The leadership emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in advocating for the welfare of veterinary doctors across the region.

A special mention was made of the role played by the Chief Election Commissioner and Electoral Officers in ensuring the smooth, free, and fair conduct of the elections. Their tireless efforts and dedication were commended by all members of the association for maintaining a transparent and efficient election process.

The newly elected body looks forward to working together to strengthen the profession, raise pertinent issues, and further the collective interests of veterinary professionals in Jammu and Kashmir.
