Srinagar, Nov 06: An Awareness Programme was conducted at Traffic Rural Kashmir Office under the Chairmanship of Ravinder Pal Singh-JKPS (SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir) in which about 90 participants participated which included Chairman/ Presidents/Managers and others from all the Rural Districts of Kashmir of the respective Transport Associations/Sumo Stands. On the inception of the awareness programme all the Participants were appraised about the complaints of overcharging, especially on the Tourists Spots and on all major roads of the Rural District of Kashmir viz District Anantnag, Baramulla, Kupwara, Kulgam,Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian Ganderbal and Bandipora. They were advised to stop this practice and ensure that the drivers of the respective stands adhere to these advises. They were further briefed to avoid overloading/over speeding/ rash and negligent driving that is the major cause of fatalities/injuries where the precious human lives are lost.
They were further advised to keep the valid documents , possess the valid DL, Fitness etc. and comply with the rules and regulations of the M. V. Act and follow these rules in letter and spirit, otherwise they will be booked under the provisions law. They were further advised that all the illegal Sumo Stands will not be allowed to operate unless they are registered through the concerned authority (Transport Commissioner of J&K) and also to behave politely with the commuters/passengers and not to be harsh with them and ply their vehicles as per the norms and were directed to comply all the advices given during the awareness programme. The participants also put forward their grievances pertaining to them and were assured for its early redressal.
At the culmination of the Awareness Programme undersigned appreciated the participants for their participation in said programme. The participants unanimously decided to convene district-wise meetings/awareness programmes involving all transporters to adhere to the directions given in the said Programme.
