Uhampur, Aug 03: J&K Pollution Control Committee Udhampur conducted Public hearing for the Proposed Minor Mineral Block (River Bed Material) Block-II/II of an Area of 5.02 Hectare, Tawi River upstream Vishal Bridge, District Udhampur In favour of Swarn Singh R/O Umalla, Udhampur at Panchayat Ghar Chari Udhampur.A statement issued here said that the hearing was presided over by Tehsildar Udhampur Jai Singh. Senior Officer and expert from J&K PCC, A B Jandial, District Mineral Officer Udhampur, Mohd. Imtaiaz, Divisional Officer J&K PCC Udhampur, S.K Tripathi were also present during the proceeding. Former PRI members including a large number of people from nearby villages participated in the proceedings. Divisional Officer, J&K PCC Udhampur, highlighted the importance of public hearings for such projects, emphasizing that these forums provide a platform for local communities to voice their concerns and suggestions. The District Mineral Officer, Udhampur, assured that mining operations would be carried out strictly in accordance with environmental regulations and the approved mining plan. A senior official from J&K PCC underscored the need to address environmental concerns associated with mining activities. The official stressed that environmental protection is paramount and that all necessary measures would be taken to mitigate the project’s ecological footprint. The Tehsildar Udhampur concluded by highlighting that all aspects discussed during the public hearing would be implemented in a transparent manner, strictly adhering to environmental norms and regulations.
