Srinagar, Apr 05: Top political leaders in Jammu & Kashmir offered Friday congregational prayers at Asar-e-ShariefDargah Hazratbal on the occasion of Jumat-ul-Vida – the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. These include Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari and others.
Dr Farooq in his message said, “I take this opportunity to extend my warmest greeting to people on Jumat Ul Vida. This day is unique in assuring the blessings of Allah in abundance. Today when the Muslims gather in mosques and engage themselves in prayers, they should pray for everlasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The day is indeed a highly significant day endowed with great spiritual importance. I pray to the Almighty to accept the penance and fasting of ours and bestow his choicest blessings on us.”
Omar Abdullah said, “I hope that the day acts as a forerunner of peace and prosperity in J&K. On this occasion, we ask for forgiveness from Allah Almighty. This day exhorts people to be good to all and sincerely abide by the injunctions laid down in the Holy book of the Quran.”
Taking part in the Friday prayers, PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti in her message said, “Jumat-ul-Vida marks the last Friday prayers in the holy month of Ramadan. The day has a great spiritual significance and every year. Despite all its importance and auspiciousness, this day fills us with the feeling of eagerness and regret.”
Mufti, who was accompanied by former minister Asia Naqash, former MLA Anjum Fazilli and Sheikh Saba, said, “On one hand, we are proud of passing divine exams and fulfilling the commandments of Almighty Allah by fasting during this pious month of Ramadan, but on the other, we are truly sad for missing the period full of blessings of Allah. May Allah Subhaana Wa Ta’alaa accept the supplications and prayers made during the breadth of this pious month.”
She also appealed to remember those who are economically weak on the eve of Eid and ensure they too share the festivity with them.
On the auspicious occasion of Jumat-ul-Vida, Apni Party chief Altaf Bukhari joined the congregational prayers at Asar-e-Sharif Hazratbal. According to a press release, Bukhari, along with several party colleagues, joined the congregation of thousands of people at Asar-e-Sharif, Hazratbal, to offer prayers on the auspicious occasion of Jumat-ul-Vida today.
On this occasion, he met the people and gave them warm greetings on Jumat-ul-Vida and the upcoming Shab-e-Qadr. He prayed for the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
Apni Party President was accompanied by the party’s Provincial President Kashmir Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Senior Leader and Former Mayor of Srinagar Junaid Azim Mattu and Zonal Committee members from Zadibal and Hazratbal constituencies.
