Anantnag, July 05: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages (JKAACL) organized a grand programme of Punjabi Kavi Durbar and Shabad Kirtan on Wednesday, commemorating the birth anniversary of Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji. The event, held at Gurduwara Singh Sabha Samundri Hall, Chitthi Singh Pora, witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including Bharat Singh JKAS, Secretary JKAACL, and S. Nanak Singh Bedi, President DGPC Anantnag.
The programme featured a vibrant display of poetic talent, as budding Punjabi poets showcased their work, addressing various social issues and life situations in the contemporary world. The esteemed gathering applauded the thought-provoking verses presented by poets such as Ramandeep Kour, Gurpreet Kour, Sunpreet Kour, Sukhpreet Kour, and many others.
The atmosphere was further enriched by the soul-stirring Gurbani Shabad Kirtan, performed by local Ragis Bhai Ravinderpal Singh & Jatha, Gurdeep Singh & Jatha, and Surinder Singh & Jatha. The melodious hymns reverberated through the hall, captivating the hearts of the hundreds of devotees in attendance.
Giani Rajinder Singh, a renowned Sikh personality in the area, expressed his appreciation for JKAACL’s efforts in preserving and promoting regional languages. He highlighted the pivotal role played by the Academy in nurturing Punjabi, a language spoken in every corner of the world. Giani Rajinder Singh also commended the event’s focus on empowering the new generation of poets and artists who have dedicated themselves to the betterment of Punjabi language and literature. He emphasized the importance of using Punjabi as a mother tongue at the family level and lauded the participation and captivating performances by the emerging young writers.
Sh. Popinder Singh Paras, Editor of Sheeraza Punjabi and Incharge of the programme, shared the Cultural Academy’s plans to organize similar literary and cultural activities across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. He emphasized the Academy’s commitment to providing a platform for budding poets and artists, ensuring that the rich cultural diversity of the region thrives among the talented youth. Paras also highlighted the Academy’s priority in reaching out to far-flung areas of J&K, where traditional folk art is deeply rooted, to showcase their talents and preserve the cultural heritage.
The proceedings of the programme were skillfully conducted by S. Ravinderpal Singh, Secretary of GC Chitthi Singh Pora. S.
