Srinagar, Feb 25: Political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday greeted people on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Baraat. They prayed for peace, prosperity and development in the union territory.
Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (JKPDP) President and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti expressed hope that this occasion would usher in peace and development for the state. In a statement issued here, Mehbooba emphasized the significance of Shab-e-Baraat as an opportunity for seeking the mercy of the Almighty and offering prayers for the well-being of humanity as a whole.
Reflecting on the spiritual importance of the holy night of prayers, she called upon people to commit themselves to compassion and endeavour towards strengthening the bonds of brotherhood, love, and harmony among all communities. “As we observe this sacred night, let us pledge to foster compassion and solidarity, thereby contributing to the advancement of peace and prosperity in the world,” Mehbooba remarked.
Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference President Sajad Gani Lone conveyed heartfelt wishes and greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Baraat.
In a statement, the PC President underscored the spiritual significance of Shab-e-Baraat while describing it as a sacred night that embodies the values of prayer, forgiveness and empathy.
“I hope that this blessed night bestows inner peace and spiritual enlightenment upon everyone. Let us reflect on the noble teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and seek the benevolence of the Almighty through worship and remembrance,” he remarked.
Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference President Begum Khalida Shah and Senior Vice President Muzaffar Shah extended heartfelt greetings to the people and entire Muslim community on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Baraat.
In their message, they expressed hope that this night of excellence and supplication would alleviate the woes of the people and usher in an era of peace, harmony, and brotherhood. “The fifteenth night of Shabaan holds great significance, as we believe that many souls are forgiven on this blessed night. It is incumbent upon us to also imbibe the lesson of forgiveness and extend it to those who may have wronged us,” Shah said.
He urged the administration to ensure hassle-free electricity and water supply in all places of worship across Kashmir, where devotees would gather to supplicate.
Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, President of All J&K Shia Association, and Senior General Secretary J&K People’s Conference, extended warm greetings and sincere wishes to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and beyond on the blessed occasion of Shab-e-Baraat and the auspicious birth anniversary of Imam Mehdi (AS).
“Shab-e-Baraat, known as the Night of Forgiveness, holds profound significance in the Islamic calendar and marks the birth anniversary of Imam Muhammad Al Mehdi (AS), the awaited saviour,” Imran said in a statement. He underscored the importance of this occasion as a moment for reflection, prayer, and spiritual renewal.
Ansari urged the community to seize this opportunity to seek forgiveness, engage in acts of charity, and strengthen bonds of brotherhood and compassion. “Imam Mehdi (AS) is revered as a symbol of hope, justice, and righteousness. On this blessed day, Molvi Imran calls upon believers to emulate the noble values exemplified by Imam Mehdi (AS) and strive towards a society marked by peace, equity, and compassion,” he said. “May the blessings of Shab-e-Baraat and the birth anniversary of Imam Mehdi (AS) illuminate our hearts and guide us towards a path of righteousness and goodness.”
