Srinagar, Mar 19: In preparation for the 2024 General Elections to the LokSabha, the Jammu and Kashmir government has set up a committee to scrutinise departmental proposals seeking clarifications or exemptions related to election guidelines.
As per the official communication, the Chief Secretary will lead the committee as Chairman and the Administrative Secretary of the concerned department to which the proposal relates and the Commissioner Secretary to the Government, General Administration Department will serve as members.
The proposals examined by the committee will be forwarded to the Election Commission of India through the Chief Electoral Officer of J&K.
Meanwhile, the order reads that sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a Screening Committee for examining proposal(s) of various departments seeking clarifications or exemptions in light of the instructions or guidelines related to Model Code of Conduct, notified by the Election Commission of India.
The Committee shall examine and forward such proposals to the Election Commission of India through the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, it said.
Further, the concerned Administrative Secretary to whom the proposal pertains shall place the same before the Committee, it added.
