Jammu, Dec 27: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has declared a seven-day State Mourning in honour of Dr. Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister of India, who passed away on December 26, 2024.
The mourning period will be observed nationwide from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025, inclusive.
According to an official notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the National Flag will be flown at half-mast on all government buildings and establishments where it is regularly hoisted. Additionally, no official entertainment events will take place during the mourning period.
The decision to observe State Mourning follows the Government of India’s tribute to Dr. Singh, recognizing his immense contributions as a visionary leader and economist.
Dr. Manmohan Singh served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014 and is particularly remembered for his transformative role in shaping the nation’s economic policies.
