JAMMU, May 29: In a landmark event for the healthcare sector, the high-tech AIIMS at Vijaypur in Jammu, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister NarendraModi last year, is going to be the first fully digitized AIIMS of the country.
This high-tech facility will have all hospital functions, staff details, and patient information available online, from initial reporting to treatment.
AIIMS Vijaypur, constructed at a cost of Rs 1661 crore, represents a significant investment in the region’s healthcare infrastructure. The digital transformation of the hospital includes online services for all medical tests, doctor prescriptions, OPD statistics, staff and doctor details, patient admissions, treatment facilities, and even suggestions for patients and their attendants.
Dr. Shakti Gupta, Director of AIIMS Vijaypur, confirmed that the training and preparations are well underway.
“The trials are in an advanced stage to ensure our staff are equipped to operate in a fully digital environment. We aim to provide seamless online access to all hospital services and information,” he stated.
This project, sanctioned by the central government, came to fruition following demands from multiple political parties and public groups. Initially, an AIIMS was sanctioned for Kashmir, but due to widespread agitation, the government approved an additional AIIMS for Jammu at Vijaypur.
The Director further noted that the training for technicians and staff is ongoing and is expected to conclude within a month. Once functional, the digital AIIMS Vijaypur will set new benchmarks in healthcare delivery and operational efficiency.
