JAMMU, Jan 19: An eleven-member inter-ministerial team, formed under the directions of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, began its investigation into the mysterious deaths in Rajouri on Sunday. The team, led by a Director from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), arrived in Jammu late in the afternoon before heading straight to Rajouri to assess the situation.
Upon reaching Jammu, the team visited the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), where it conducted a detailed, two-hour meeting with senior health officials, including the Nodal Officer, to gather information on the mysterious deaths in Badhal Village of Rajouri.
Sources indicated that the team sought comprehensive reports on the various tests conducted by the health department to determine the cause of the deaths. Secretary Health and Principal of GMC Jammu, Dr. Ashutosh, were also present at the meeting. Dr. Ashutosh briefed the team on the actions taken by the Health Department thus far to probe the cause of the deaths.
“We provided a detailed briefing to the inter-ministerial team regarding the steps taken by the Health Department in investigating the mysterious deaths,” Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal of GMC Jammu, told Rising Kashmir.
After the meeting in Jammu, the team travelled to Rajouri, where they held further discussions with the district administration. The team is scheduled to visit Badhal Village tomorrow, where 17 deaths have been reported, to continue their investigation.
