Srinagar, Oct 10: In a joint operation, the Police and Revenue authorities, acting on recommendations from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), demolished illegal structures on government land in Pulwama on Monday.
The action comes in the wake of an operation carried out by the Police and Army on the intervening night of March 11/12, 2022, at a Darul Uloom located in Chewa Kalan, Pulwama. During this operation, one local terrorist identified as Aquib Mushtaq, a resident of Kareemabad, and one foreign terrorist were killed.
Subsequently, the NIA took over the investigation of the case, FIR No 50/2022. During their investigation, the NIA arrested the administrators of the Darul Uloom, namely Naseer Molvi, a resident of Chewa Kalan, and his associate, Imtiyaz. Both remained in custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Darul Uloom, consisting of three single-storied rooms, was found to have been constructed on government land and had remained unused since the encounter on March 11/12, 2022.
In accordance with the recommendations from the NIA, the demolition of these illegal structures on government land was carried out on Monday night by revenue authorities, with the full protection of the police.
