Budgam, Aug 13: Residents of Hazerpora village in Beerwah district have urged the government to construct a new school building as the condition of the existing school structure has been deteriorating.Imtiyaz Amad, a local resident of Hazerpora told Rising Kashmir that the Government Boys Primary School Hazerpora was established in 1972. Since then the condition of this school building has been worsening consistently.”During rainfall and snowfall, water seeps into the building from the roof, causing damage to the walls of the school. Whenever it starts to rain, the teachers are compelled to close the school,” he said.Ahmad said that they have already reached out to the relevant officials to dismantle the current building and construct a new school at the same site. Unfortunately, no action has been taken on ground levels.”The students come from impoverished families who cannot afford to send their children to private schools. This school represents hope for parents who are unable to enroll their children in private institutions. They are entirely reliant on this school. The teachers provide a high quality of education to students and are very approachable to both the students and their parents,” he added.”If the government constructs another school building in village, it will provide various facilities to students, allowing them to find relief within the school. These students will represent our village in various fields as they pursue their futures,” he said.Another senior citizen from the village said that due to the lack of adequate space in the old building, the Government constructed an additional two classrooms in 2022.”Most students are still attending classes in old building, where the conditions are not conducive for learning,” he said. When contacted, an official from the Chief Education Office in Budgam said, “We are going to construct a new school building in Hazerpora village. We have already built another school building on the premises.”
