Budgam, Nov 06: Chairman of J&K Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen on Monday expressed deep concern over the prolonged delay in completing the Krimshora-Parnewa fruit mandi, despite significant investments in land purchase and construction of auction sheds.
In a statement, Yaseen demanded the immediate operationalisation of the Khansahib fruit mandis, saying these have critical importance for local growers and traders.
Hakeem said that the absence of these facilities has led to the exploitation of fruit growers by middlemen, resulting in inadequate prices for their produce. He called for the direct selling of produce to buyers, eliminating the intermediaries and ensuring fair returns for the farmers.
The PDF chief lamented the “lackadaisical” approach of the government in completing the construction of these essential fruit mandis, which have been pending for over a decade. He urged the immediate intervention of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to expedite the operationalisation of the mandis in the Khansahib area.
Yaseen demanded the urgent upgradation of the Khag-Aripanthan road via Kandhama village, which serves as a vital connection point for three tehsils. He also highlighted the deplorable condition of the road, saying it is causing severe hardships for the people.
