Jammu, Apr 08: The Public Works (R&B) Department has officially blacklisted a number of contractors for failing to execute their assigned road construction and development works, as revealed in a response to an unstarred question raised by MLA Irfan Hafiz Lone.

In its reply, the Department confirmed that several contractors have been debarred from participating in future tenders due to non-performance. The blacklisted firms include: M/S Vestestha Construction, owned by Fayaz Ahmed Zargar, a resident of Kulgam, Srinagar, M/S AK Engineers & Contractor Pvt. Ltd., based at Bindra House, Jammu, M/S Shazad Ahmed Khan, resident of Darungalt Nallah (Kankote), Poonch.

In addition to these, three contractors have been debarred for a period of one year for violating agreement terms. These include: M/S Max Infrastructure Developers, owned by Tariq Ahmed Bhat, Lasjan, Srinagar, Mr. Riyaz Ahmad Dar, Tengpora Bakshipora, Srinagar, Mr. Showkat Ahmad Gilkar, Suliman Teng, Dalgate, Srinagar.

Regarding upcoming road development works, the department stated that the action plan for macadamization and upgradation for the financial year 2025–26 under NABARD, CAPEX, and other funding heads is still being finalized. However, no road works have been proposed under PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana) for the Kreeri-Wagoora constituency for the same period.

In response to the need for pavers of narrow width for interior road projects, the Department clarified that it does not independently procure machinery. Instead, tenders are floated for a comprehensive job that includes material, men, and machinery. Moreover, the standard width for village road macadamization is 3.0 meters, which is executed using paver machines.
