JAMMU, Apr 29:
In a landmark development for healthcare in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) in Jammu is set to transition to a fully digital mode of operation, marking a significant shift towards paperless working and online accessibility of hospital functions.
The historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today between GMC-Jammu and BSNL marks the initiation of this transformational journey. The agreement aims to establish a state-of-the-art Command and Control Centre at GMC&H, Jammu, ushering in a new era of efficient and transparent healthcare management.
DrSandeepDogra, Chairperson of IT and Nodal Officer of the Command & Control Centre at GMC&H, Jammu, highlighted the pivotal role of the upcoming centre. Through continuous monitoring via CCTV surveillance, the centre will oversee various hospital activities including admissions, discharges, tests, OPDs, and security measures, with real-time data accessible online.
Despite facing challenges due to poor internet connectivity in the past, the government’s persistent efforts over the last 1.5 years have finally culminated in the approval of this visionary project, Dr.Sandeep said.
The ambitious project, slated to be completed within three months, will be the first of its kind in J&K, setting a precedent for modern healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Under the guidance of Secretary, H&ME, Dr.SayedAbidRasheed Shah, the MoU was signed in the presence of Principal Dr.Ashutosh Gupta, SumirRaina, Assistant Director, BSNL Corporate, J&K, and other dignitaries.
The initiative encompasses an IT-based centralised management and monitoring centre equipped with a secure and robust network infrastructure, aimed at facilitating seamless communication and operational efficiency. Key features include the implementation of Hospital Management & Information System (HMIS) to enable paperless working, generate online reports, and maintain Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in line with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
Furthermore, the system will facilitate remote consultations through video conferencing, enhancing communication between administrators and doctors, particularly crucial in pandemic situations.
Additionally, the project will enhance security measures through perimeter surveillance using strategically positioned PTZ cameras, while upgrading communication systems to a new digital PBX system for routine and emergency communication needs.
The comprehensive system will cover all aspects of hospital operations, including OPDs, wards, OTs, laboratories, and emergency blocks, ensuring holistic digital integration for efficient healthcare delivery at GMC&H, Jammu.
