JAMMU, APR29:
In a significant development, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, and ADGP Jammu, Anand Jain, convened a high-level meeting today to deliberate on the arrangements for the upcoming ShriAmarnathjiYatra 2024.
Attended by a host of officials including IGP Traffic, DIG CRPF, Director Tourism, Deputy Commissioners of various districts, and representatives from line departments, the meeting focused on ensuring smooth conduct of the annual holy Yatra.
Various components were thoroughly discussed, including the installation of registration and RFID counters, facilities at lodgmentcenters for yatris, sanitation measures, provision of temporary bathrooms, identification of sites for langars, and the process for seeking permissions. Mandatory provisions such as CCTV surveillance and fire extinguishers were emphasized.
The Divisional Commissioner directed Deputy Commissioners to set up registration and RFID counters at key locations such as Bhagwati Nagar, Chichi Mata Temple, and transportation hubs. Comprehensive arrangements at YatriNiwasBhagwati Nagar were also stressed, with directives issued for lodging, boarding, lighting, water supply, healthcare facilities, and drainage maintenance.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation was tasked with ensuring adherence to vending zones and proper waste management, while the Fire and Emergency Services Department was instructed to deploy fire tenders at identified locations. The Health Department was directed to deploy medical staff and ambulances for emergencies.
Additionally, arrangements for signage installation, display boards for sightseeing, and preventing overcharging from yatris were discussed. Special provisions for seers and Sadhus were also highlighted.
The meeting also focused on deployment of Magistrates, provision of water tankers, telecom services, and advanced preparations for emergencies. For smooth traffic movement on the National Highway, the Div Com directed NHAI to ensure availability of manpower and machinery at vulnerable points.
The meeting was attended by several key officials including SSPs, Additional CEO of Amarnath Shrine Board, RO NHAI, and Joint Director Information, among others.
