In a major development, the Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla successfully operated on the first case of fall with compound depressed fracture of head, and managed the second case of bear attack with head trauma.
The surgery was carried under the leadership of Dr. Humam, a renowned neurosurgeon.
Medical Superintendent AHGMC Baramulla Dr. Parvez Masoodi told Rising Kashmir that the team of doctors at the GMC Baramulla has also managed to significantly reduce the number of referrals of head injury cases to SKIMS (Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences), by managing all the neuro trauma cases referred from Handwara, Kupwara, Sopore, and Uri conservatively at the emergency ward and on an OPD basis.
A health care official said that the successful operations and management of these cases have not only instilled confidence among the locals but have also put GMC Baramulla on the map for its exceptional medical facilities and expert doctors.
Dr. Parvez said that the achievement comes as a much-needed relief to the people of Baramulla and the neighboring areas, who have long been dependent on other hospitals for such critical cases.
