Dubey organised a one-day awareness workshop on promoting digital safety on “Safer Internet Day” on Tuesday.
The workshop was organised for the students of B. A/B.Sc Semester 4 and 6 under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC) in the college campus. The program started with a welcome note by Prof. Rachna Bharti, who briefed about the purpose of the awareness workshop to promote digital safety while using the internet. As “Safer Internet Day” serves as an important reminder to prioritize online safety and promote responsible use of technology. It is celebrated annually on the second Tuesday of February, this international event aims to create a better internet for everyone, particularly young users. With the theme “Together for a better internet,” Safer Internet Day encourages individuals, organisations, and governments to collaborate and make the internet a
safer and more positive space.
Prof. (Dr.) Nalini Pathania, Principal of GCW Udhampur, commended the department for organizing such an awareness program and diligently implementing all measures to safeguard against cyber-threats and crimes.
The Lecture was conducted by Akshi Gupta, Faculty from Department of Computer Application who emphasised the importance of using Cyber Hygiene Practices to save oneself from various cyber-attacks, cyber-crimes, digital arrest etc. She highlighted several steps like Use of Strong Passwords, Enable Two-Factor Authentication, Cautious of Phishing Scams, Monitor Privacy Settings etc. Cyber Hygiene which is one of the important aspects is to form good habits around cybersecurity and stay ahead of cyber threats and online security issues is also discussed. Safer Internet Day is a vital initiative that brings attention to the importance of online safety. By participating in the day’s activities and adopting safe online practices, one can collectively contribute to a more secure and
positive digital environment.
Prof. Rachna Bharti extended the formal vote of thanks to all the staff members and students for joining the session on this significant occasion of Safer Internet Day. She encourages everyone to participate in Safer Internet Day activities and to have important conversations about online safety with their family, friends, and community networks so that together, we can make the internet a safer place.
