Srinagar, Feb 04: Under the mentorship of Director JKSCERT Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas, the Department of Education in Art and Vocation SCERT-KD organised an award ceremony. To felicitate the toppers of the Toycathon-2023 (Kashmir Division) the ceremony was held in the Auditorium of the Directorate of Jammu and Kashmir State Council of Educational Research and Trainings, Bemina, Srinagar.
The event was presided over by the Director JKSCERT Prof. Parikshat Singh Manhas and was attended by the Joint Director SCERT Central and SCERT Kashmir division HR Pakhroo, DGM JK Bank Ashok Gupta, Prof Zahoor Ahmad Dar, Estate Officer Mohammed Sultan Khan, the DIET Principals, SCERT faculty, District Nodal Officers (Toycathon-2023), escort teachers and the top 30 students of Toycathon 2023 along with their parents.
The Director and the Joint Director awarded the students who got the top positions there in the competition. It is pertinent to mention that there were three categories in which the students competed in the Toycathon-2023 that is (a). Category first class 6th -8th (b). Category 2nd class 9th – 10th and (C). Category 3rd class 11th – 12th.
In the first category (6th-8th) it is Wajida Abid class 7th student from Tibetian Public School, Hawal Srinagar who got the Gold medal, Ruhid Ahmad class 7th student from HS Paranpillian, Jullah Baramullah got Silver medal and the class 6th student Sameer Ahmad Sulamani of Radiant public School, Nadihal Bandipora got the Bronze medal.
In the category second (9th-10th) Soleh Jan (Class 9th) GHSS Amirakadal was awarded the Gold medal, Mohammad Muheet (Class 10th) Shah-I- Hamdan Institute Shopian got Silver medal and Shahid Nazir Wagay (Class 10th) of BHSS Arreh, Kulgam was awarded the Bronze medal.
In the category third (11th – 12th) Irtiza Nisar (class 11th) of GHS Kangan, Ganderbal got the Gold medal. Taibat-ul-Nisa (Class 11th) of GHSS Trehgam, Kupwara got Silver medal and Sumeet Kour (Class 12th) of GHSS Baramullah got the Bronze medal. In each category more than the top three students the other seven students were felicitated with the consolation certificates.
After the award ceremony the Worthy Director who was also the guest of honour delivered the presidential address. In his inspirational address which was full of wisdom, the Director talked about the Toycathon initiative and the importance and public utility of the skill-based education. He said that NEP 2020 has focused much on the vocational education and there is a paradigm shift in the national policy initiatives from the employment to entrepreneurship. Prof Parikshat Singh Manhas said that “Education is important but the need of the hour is to be job creators instead of job seekers”.
He said that the students of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory through their participation in the Toycathon 2023 proved that they are second to none in their talent and potentials and it is the only Union territory in the entire country which has 125000 student registrations for the Toycathon 2023. In the entire process we have more than 9500 students who competed in 5374 competitions and we are proud to have now 113 designs which have been passed by the Comptroller General of Patent Design and Trademarks Government of India.
The design has been passed without any fee and all patent design registration process has been sponsored by the JKSCERT, the Director said that we are hope full that some of the passed Design may get good takers at the international level and our young mind may have their foot prints in the field of innovation.
The Director in his inspirational massage urged the students to work hard and follow the passion with all the dedication and determination.
The Director promised the student community all the support and also announced that the JKSCERT will start the Toycathon- 2024 very soon and hope that this time we will have more participation and our students will show more enthusiasm towards the field of creativity, critical thinking and innovation.
