Amidst tight security measures, the revered 62-day long annual AmarnathYatra embarked on its journey on Saturday, as the first batch of pilgrims set off from the Domail-Baltal base camp towards the holy cave.
The momentous occasion was marked by the presence of distinguished officials, including Secretary Planning Development and Monitoring Department, Dr.Raghav Langer, Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shayambir, SSP Ganderbal, Nikhil Borkar, and Camp Director Baltal.
In a flag-off ceremony, the officials sent off the first batch of 4709 ShriAmarnathYatris, comprising 3599 male, 1040 female, 43 children, and 16 Sadhus, at the crack of dawn, approximately at 5 am. The atmosphere was filled with fervor and enthusiasm as the pilgrims embarked on their spiritual journey towards the Holy Cave.
The authorities have meticulously arranged for tight security measures along the entire Amarnath route and Baltal Base Camp, ensuring the safety and well-being of the Yatris. Expressing their best wishes, the officials assured that the government has taken comprehensive steps to address security concerns and welfare matters, thereby ensuring a successful and peaceful Yatra.
Present on the momentous occasion were other esteemed officials from the District administration, police, and various security agencies, all collectively contributing to the efficient execution of the pilgrimage.
The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shayambir, while addressing the media, reiterated the government’s commitment to a safe and memorable Yatra. He urged all Yatris to make the most of the available facilities and amenities, emphasizing that the district administration, along with numerous volunteers, remains dedicated to assisting and supporting the pilgrims.
Notably, elaborate arrangements have been made en route to the Holy Cave to ensure the Yatris’ convenience, encompassing basic amenities, healthcare facilities, and stringent security measures.
The 62-day Yatra, commencing on July 1st, is scheduled to conclude on August 31st. Pilgrims can embark on the spiritual journey through the traditional Pahalgam track in Anantnag district or the shorter Baltaltrack in Ganderbal district.
With the commencement of the AmarnathYatra, devotees from far and wide gather to seek blessings, and the government’s robust arrangements leave no stone unturned to make it a safe and successful pilgrimage for all participants.
