Kulgam, Feb 02: Kulgam district comprising three assembly constituencies has witnessed a notable enhancement in both the elector-population and gender ratio.
The recently completed and published final electoral roll reveals an overall improvement in the electoral roll.
According to data available with Rising Kashmir, the projected population of the district is 5,08,781, and the total electors in the latest electoral roll for 2024 are 3,23,813.
Deputy District Election Officer (Dy. DEO), Kulgam, Bilal Ahmad, mentioned that the district comprises three assembly constituencies: Devsar, Kulgam, and Damhal Hanjipora. The Kulgam Constituency has the highest number of electors with 1,16,088, followed by Devsar with 1,10,527, and D H Pora with 97,198.
He said that the district has 100 percent photo entries on the electoral roll, and it boasts the highest percentage of electors in the age group of 30-39.
He said that the gender ratio has shown improvement, reaching 992 in the final roll; earlier, in the draft roll, the gender ratio stood at 990. The final roll’s gender ratio is also among the better-performing districts in the country.
Elector-Population Ratio:
He said that the district has a 63.64 percent elector population (EP) ratio. Additionally, the district has a higher female electors population ratio than male. This data simply means that the district has a projected population of 5.08 lakh, with 63.64 percent being electors.
District Election Officer (DEO), Kulgam, Athar Amir Khan, said that Kulgam is among the better-performing districts. He said that the gender ratio and EP ratio are among the best in the country.
“We have the addition of 15,500 new electors in the year-long summary revision. The Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO), Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), and others, under the directions of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and Election Commission of India (ECI) have worked like a team and ensured that no eligible voter would be left out from the summary revision,” he said.
“For the upcoming elections, the summary revision of Electoral rolls has been completed. The Panchayat Electoral roll is under process, and camps are being held for it. We are hopeful that in future elections, the voter turnout will be among the best in Kulgam,” he said.
Meanwhile, AERO Kulgam said that the door-to-door survey, with full mobilization of ground staff and Information Education and Communication (IEC) activities, yielded the results.
He said that Kulgam constituency has the highest EP Ratio among all three constituencies.
