Jammu, July 7: In a significant step towards environmental conservation and clean environment, the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports and Jammu and Kashmir Forest Department (Jammu Forest Division) launched a massive Plantation Drive at Sports Training Centre/Base Camp Nagrota, here today.A statement said that the Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports Central, Jitender Mishra along with other officers and officials of the Department and the representatives of Jammu Forest Division planted a variety of trees at this venue. Speaking on the occasion, Mishra while highlighting the importance of environmental stewardship said the Department was committed to fostering a culture of sustainability among the youth, adding today’s plantation drive was a step towards a greener future. He urged the youth in general and the Refresher Course candidates, who were present there, in particular, to take ownership of their environment. A variety of plants and trees were planted on the occasion which included Chinar trees, different kinds of roses, guava trees, papaya etc. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Altaf Hussain Bhat, CVO Directorate and Incharge Warden Sports Training Centre/Base Camp Nagrota, Rajesh Dhar, Lecturer Physical Education, Vijay Koul from Activities Section of Directorate, besides Incharge Khel Gaon Dinesh Kumar, Ajay Wadera and Naresh.
