Srinagar, Aug 09: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has launched a series of mass Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) across all government schools in the Kashmir division to gather valuable feedback from parents and members of civil society. The initiative, which began on Saturday, August 9, will continue until September 5, 2025, to enhance the quality of education at the grassroots level in the Kashmir valley.An official from the School Education Department said these mass PTMs are being conducted in conjunction with the celebration of Teachers’ Day and are unprecedented in scope within the region.”This is the first time that such comprehensive PTMs are being held in all government schools across Kashmir. Teachers, students, parents, civil society members, stakeholders, and School Management Committees are actively participating in these meetings,” he said. “Discussions are taking place in front of heads of institutions, principals, headmasters, teachers, Chief Education Officers, ZEOs, and other district officials.”The official said the feedback collected is a crucial resource for the School Education Department to identify areas for improvement and to strengthen the quality of government school education throughout the valley.”In line with the nationwide implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, several new initiatives are necessary to advance school education. The mass PTMs are one such initiative under NEP 2020, aimed at engaging stakeholders to foster continuous improvement in schools,” he added.He further said that after the conclusion of these meetings on September 5, 2025, they will be held monthly to ensure ongoing engagement and feedback collection.Meanwhile, Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), Dr G. N. Itoo visited the Higher Secondary School in Nehama, Kulgam. During his visit, he reviewed the arrangements for the mass PTMs and interacted with teachers and students to monitor the progress of the initiative.
