Shopian, Nov 14: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian on Tuesday, said that they arrested a drug peddler in possession of contraband substance and a substantial sum of money in the Mehlura area of the Shopian district.
According to SSP Tanushree, Zainapora police received information in the morning regarding Farooq Ahmad Koka, a resident of Melhura dealing with drugs. The report indicated that he had Charas and currency notes at his residence.
“Zainapora police conducted a proper raid based on this information, resulting in the recovery of 4.2 kilograms of Charas and a significant amount of money, totalling around 45 lakhs,” she said.
The SSP said that Shopian police’s message is for those engaged in drug dealing to cease such activities and pursue legitimate occupations. She cautioned that the law would be rigorously applied against drug peddlers, promising strict action.
“Anyone involved in the drug menace is urged to abandon this illegal work and seek employment in lawful occupations,” added SSP Shopian.”
The police have registered an FIR, numbered 93, under the relevant laws at Zainapora police station regarding this matter.
