Rajouri, July 30: Minister of State and Chairperson J&K Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on Sunday laid a foundation stone for the new masjid to be constructed by J&K Waqf Board at Panj Peer in Rajouri, on the third day of her visit to the Pir Panchal region.
She also inspected the newly-furnished Eidgah Jamia Masjid at Rajouri and dedicated the newly-upgraded and renovated sanitary complex to the public at the campus. According to a statement issued here, Dr Andrabi also inaugurated the sanitary complex at Bhatian Sharief in Rajpuri.
Dr Andrabi reiterated her commitment to creating basic requirements at all shrines under the ongoing phase, saying she was happy to visit Rajouri to fulfill the promises made during her visit a few months ago. “J&K Waqf Board is now a new vibrant body which has transformed a lot after coming out of the clutches of the dynasties who looted its assets beyond any measure,” she said.
The Waqf Board Chairperson, who was accompanied by the CEO of Waqf Board Dr Syed Majid Jahangir and Administrator Rafiq Anjum Malik among others, convened a meeting of district administration for the resolution of public issues on the spot. She hailed the administration for responding to public grievances without delays. The delegation of the Pahari community accorded a warm welcome to Dr Darakhshan for her efforts and the decision of the BJP government to include the community in the ST list after 75 years of their struggle.
Speaking to the delegation, Dr Andrabi said that PM Modi is the champion of inclusive growth in India. A delegation of BJP leaders also met Dr Darakhshan and thanked for her regular and continuous reach out in the Pir Panchal region. An interactive session was held to further strengthen the BJP cadre base in Rajouri.
A delegation of Ulema of the district also met Andrabi and hailed her efforts for giving a new life to Waqf Board. Discussion on the holding of mega Sufi conferences in Pir Panchal Range was held. Andrabi praised the efforts of the religious scholars for their “immense contribution in keeping alive the spiritual inclusive tradition during very tough times of radicalization and violence in the name of the faith”.
