Srinagar, July 13: Alok Kumar, IPS-ADGP and Director of Fire and Emergency Services J&K, undertook a visit today to assess the safety arrangements made for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2023, with a specific focus on fire safety measures. Accompanied by a team of officers and officials from the department, he embarked on a journey from Srinagar to Domail via the Baltal axis.
During the visit, Alok Kumar diligently inspected all the yatra camps along the route from Srinagar to Baltal, including Manigam, Neilgrath, Baltal Base Camp, Baltal Tent City, and Domail. Furthermore, he conducted surprise inspections of F&ES Gund and Kangan, which are located on the Srinagar Baltal yatra route.
Engaging in discussions with paramilitary forces, police personnel, and civil administration officers, Alok Kumar actively addressed matters pertaining to the safety and security of the yatris. He expressed his appreciation for their tireless efforts in ensuring a secure environment for the pilgrims.
At the Neilgrath helipad Campus, the Director had an interactive session with all the officers, including the Camp Director, and also engaged with the yatris present. Displaying compassion, he attentively listened to the concerns raised by the pilgrims and promptly provided necessary directives to the officers to resolve their legitimate issues.
Emphasizing the significance of close coordination among all stakeholders, the Director urged the officers and jawans of the department to maintain strong liaison for swift and efficient responses during any emergencies throughout the Yatra.
A detailed meeting was held between Alok Kumar and the deployed Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) at the Joint PCR in Baltal base camp. The SSPs apprised him about the telecommunication, CCTV, and satellite facilities provided to the yatris during their travel and trekking from Baltal to the holy cave. Additionally, he also interacted with representatives from the police, army, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, NDRF, SDRF, and the Indian Air Force.
Alok Kumar’s visit underscored the importance of ensuring the highest standards of safety and security for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2023. The Director expressed confidence in the dedication and commitment of all the officers and officials involved in making the pilgrimage a safe and memorable experience for the devotees.
