Bandipora, Dec 10: In an effort to combat the misuse of social media and thwart the dissemination of terror narratives, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone VK Birdi on Saturday said that the police would implement strict measures and take robust action against those exploiting social media platforms to promote terrorism.
After a security review meeting in Bandipora, IGP Birdi addressed reporters, stating that anyone found intentionally or unintentionally endorsing anti-national or terrorist narratives on social media, potentially leading to disruptions in peace and public order, would face stringent police action.
IGP Birdi emphasized the role of parents in counseling their children on the responsible use of social media. He underscored the commitment to maintaining a peaceful environment in the valley and quashing rumors, promising stringent measures to ensure public well-being.
IGP Birdi also directed officers to maintain vigilant oversight, identify individuals with malicious intentions, and dismantle narcotic drug networks. Stressing enhanced collaboration between law enforcement agencies, he called for seamless information sharing and joint operations.
Birdi urged the exploration of innovative technologies to enhance existing security infrastructure and response capabilities. Emphasizing the importance of human intelligence alongside technical inputs, he called for stringent action against those supporting anti-national activities.
Highlighting the commitment to combat the drug menace, VK Birdi directed the finalization of pending cases and public complaints to provide relief to the general public, urging the speedy disposal of assigned investigation cases.
