Srinagar, Apr 12: Under the able leadership of Prof Sadaf Ali, Pioneer HPB and GI surgeon of valley, Department of Surgical Gastroenterology successfully organized a Mid Term IASG conference under the aegis of Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology on the theme ” HPB Cancer Management”, bringing together leading experts, clinicians, and researchers in the field of Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) oncology.
The event was held on 12th and 13th April 2025 at SKIMS. Prof G M Gulzar was the organizing Chairman and Prof Sadaf Ali was Organisig Secretary. Chief Guest of the Conference was Dr B N Gangadhar, Chairman, National Medical Commision.
The CME aimed to provide a comprehensive update on the latest diagnostic tools, surgical techniques, and multidisciplinary approaches in the management of liver, pancreas, and biliary tract cancers. Conference was attended by multiple eminent Faculty of Country fron institutions like AIIMS New Delhi, TMH Mumbai, SGPGI, Lucknow, etc. Surgeons from the Leading Cancer hospital of india, Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), Mumbai presented their data and management protocol on managing complex HPB Malignancies. Keynote speakers and panelists included Prof Shubhash Gupta (President IASG), Prof Sujoy Pal (Secretary IASG) and other eminent surgical gastroenterologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists who shared insights on evidence-based practices and emerging therapies. Advanced complex HPB Cancer surgery done laparoscopically and robotically were demonstrated in conference. President of IASG emphasized the need for continuous innovation and collaborative efforts in tackling the rising burden of HPB cancers in India.
The department reiterated its commitment to continuous professional development and excellence in patient care through such academic initiatives. Conference will continue tomorrow and will focus tomorrow on treatment of pancreatic cancer.
