Srinagar, Feb 13: In a fervent call for collective action, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-din, the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, emphasized the indispensable role of community support in mitigating the surge of road accidents plaguing the city. Speaking at a road safety awareness program at Amar Singh College, Dr. Mohi-ud-din underscored that the battle for road safety must mirror the concerted efforts against the drug menace to safeguard precious lives.
Highlighting the imperative for all strata of society to contribute, the Deputy Commissioner urged both the common populace and administrative authorities to shoulder responsibility in disseminating crucial road safety awareness. He stressed that augmenting public consciousness remains the linchpin in curtailing fatalities and injuries stemming from road mishaps in Srinagar.
“To stem the tide of deaths and injuries on our roads, strict adherence to traffic regulations is paramount,” Dr. Mohi-ud-din asserted, underscoring the pivotal role of media in amplifying awareness initiatives. He implored media professionals to galvanize public consciousness regarding road safety measures.
Echoing this sentiment, Muzzafer Shah, SSP Traffic city Srinagar, accentuated the strategic targeting of youth demographics in their outreach efforts. Shah elucidated the strategic focus on schoolchildren and college students, recognizing them as the vanguards of societal transformation. “By instilling a reverence for life and adherence to traffic norms among the youth, we can catalyze broader societal change,” Shah affirmed.
Moreover, Shah emphasized the need for parental vigilance in preventing minors from engaging in perilous activities such as stunt biking. “Parents play a pivotal role in thwarting reckless behavior among youngsters, thus safeguarding their lives,” he remarked.
The dire statistics underline the urgency of action, with pedestrian fatalities constituting a staggering 50% of road-related deaths in Srinagar. SSP Traffic City, Srinagar, reaffirmed their commitment to swift action against violators, particularly targeting stunt bikers whose recklessness poses a grave threat to public safety.
