Jammu, Mar 06: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Working President Raman Bhalla and Senior Vice President Mulla Ram on Wednesday reiterated their party’s commitment to ensuring justice and inclusive development in Jammu and Kashmir. They criticized the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying the party “caused setbacks” to the developmental process in the region.
Bhalla said the Congress party will prioritize the people’s urges and aspirations and work to restore confidence among the citizens of J&K. During their visit to various areas of the Marh Constituency to review preparedness for the forthcoming Parliament elections, they expressed support for Seaman Sahil Verma, who has been missing for the past 10 days while on duty in the Indian Navy. They echoed his family’s demand for a CBI probe into the matter and appealed to the Prime Minister for intervention.
Bhalla said there is “dissatisfaction” among the people with the BJP’s governance in Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as “directionless and experimental”. “Only the Congress party can provide justice to the people and criticized the BJP for exploiting communal, regional, and linguistic divisions for its own agenda,” he said. “Democracy, Constitution and the country are in danger under the BJP government. Congress knows how to rule and run the government. Congress can develop the country better.”
Mulla Ram criticized the BJP for “failing” to fulfill its promises and emphasized the Congress’s commitment to principles in politics. “The people should choose between fake and true leaders in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
“Congress has always taken care of urges and aspirations of every section of the erstwhile State and it will continue to safeguard their interests. Congress will become the number one party in J&K in the upcoming elections. Winds of change are sweeping through J&K,” he added.
NSUI President Ajay Lakhotra criticized the NDA government for “depriving” the members of Scheduled Castes and other underprivileged classes of their basic rights. He expressed confidence that the SC community will support Congress candidates in the upcoming polls, citing the party’s history of advocating for the rights of underprivileged communities.
